Manitou’s MLT 741 is a real workhorse on the Stud Farm

Manitou MLT 741-130 PS+ on pause at the Stud Farm.

Lawrence Rich has been running the 250 acre, family-owned Stud Farm in Gloucestershire with his brother Ben, since 2000. Providing top quality silage, hay, haylage and straw to the equine community, Lawrence knows true pedigree when he sees it – and his latest purchase of a Manitou agricultural telehandler is no exception!

Having established themselves as successful farmers in their own right, the brothers set up BG & LD Rich to complement their farming, offering a valuable service to the local agricultural community. With a wide variety of farming tasks to perform on a daily basis, having a powerful, reliable and versatile machine to act as an all-rounder was a must-have.

The Manitou MLT 741-130 PS+ telehandler was specifically chosen for its compact design, reliable Powershift transmission and its attention to detail when it comes to successfully navigating a challenging, agricultural environment. As well as an impressive 7 metre lifting height and a 4.1 ton load capacity, the MLT 741 is packed with innovative and well-considered features that make it a super-comfortable machine for today’s discerning operator.

All-round visibility from the cab is enhanced with an extended, curved windscreen, while maintenance is kept to a minimum, thanks to easily accessible grease points. ‘They seem to have thought of everything,’ says Lawrence. ‘It’s always the small details that make the difference, like the driving position, the joystick controls, and the fact that Manitou have made access to the cab much easier. They’ve designed a cut-away step, so you don’t bang your ankles when climbing aboard, highlighting just how well thought-through this machine is.’

Innovative cut-away step is a simple and effective design.

Just as well really, as upcoming workloads will see both man and Manitou put through their paces for long stretches. ‘We’re constantly moving from field to shed, loading and unloading, without much of a break – although the wide range of Manitou attachments available does make life easier. Bale grabs, forks and buckets are tools we rely on daily, as much as the machine itself,’ explains Lawrence.

Over the years, Lawrence has purchased a significant number of machines from T H WHITE Agriculture, calling on the advice and expertise of senior sales representative Andy Daffurn, based at Toddington branch. As well as the MLT 741, Andy has recently supplied Lawrence with several New Holland tractors and a New Holland Big Baler 890 Plus.

We’re certainly looking forward to seeing the new baler in action soon, and reporting on yet more pedigree machinery at work on the Stud Farm!

Contact Andy Daffurn or any one of our T H WHITE Agriculture for more info on the full range of Manitou telehandlers and New Holland ranges.  Andy can be reached 07860 331023.
