James Martin, a past green keeper for Blackwell Golf Course and retired semi-professional rugby player has joined Stourport’s Groundcare sales team.

James has been working around greenkeeping machinery for many years, and brings a wealth of on the ground knowledge and the experience of real world usage of New Holland, Toro and Ventrac machinery to our growing team.

James told us ” I felt it was time for a new challenge and wanted to move into sales, so when I saw the job come up with T H WHITE I went for it! My experience at Blackwell means I understand the machinery in depth, having worked with Ventrac, Toro and New Holland while working there. I’m a bit of a gym goer and love hiking. I also coach a senior men’s rugby team. I’ve been doing that for four years after retiring from playing semi-professional rugby myself.

Approaching new people and being able to talk to customer are things I’m OK with. My coaching experience probably helps with that. My partner tells me I make friends easily! It’s great to be able to talk about the machines from a first hand perspective because I’ve used them. Since I joined T H WHITE I’ve been getting good guidance from Nathan the Head of Groundcare Sales and I feel confident to hit the ground running. I’ve been looking more closely at Ventracs. I like those – they are a great bit of kit. Now I’m also learning about robots for the first time and feeling there is definitely a place for them with Groundcare professionals”.
