Service Workshop Engineer

Palfinger UK is the largest national lorry crane provider that offers in-house assembly, bespoke body-building and servicing for the entire life of the equipment portfolio it represents.

We are looking for a Service Workshop Engineer to join our team in Devizes, Wiltshire

Reporting to the Workshop Foreman, this role is responsible for the effective and efficient servicing, maintenance and repairs of lorry loaders and other equipment as required

 Hours: 42 hours a week

Key duties will include:

  • Carrying out annual LOLER inspections, servicing and repairs to ALLMI standards and within Palfinger/industry prescribed times
  • Attending breakdowns (including roadside and repairs on customer site when required)
  • Collecting/delivering customer vehicles as required
  • Following and promoting best practice and working to ‘Right-first-time’ standards of workmanship
  • Applying customer care skills at all times, ensuring customer expectations are met and kept regularly informed of job progress
  • Following customer specific instructions and notifying Workshop Foreman of any damage/chargeable work when appropriate
  • Liaising with the Parts department to ensure all parts returns are documented and returned in a timely manner
  • Carrying out inspection and repairs on workshop equipment as directed

The ideal applicant

  • You will be experienced in the repair and maintenance of lorry loader cranes or similar equipment, including fault finding and competent use of electrical and diagnostic test equipment
  • You will have technical experience including LOLER, hydraulic and electrical
  • You will be able to work on your own initiative, and have sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • You will have good communication skills, both on the telephone and face-to-face
  • You will be confident using a computer
  • Arc/MIG welding is advantageous
