Coronavirus Updates from Palfinger UK

Here at Palfinger UK we are taking the Coronavirus pandemic very seriously. Please read ongoing updates from our business below.

Update from Palfinger UK – 1 June 2020

Palfinger UK still has c. 60% of employees on furlough leave at present due to the main suppliers initially ceasing production and/or their inability to distribute cranes and components beyond March. Deliveries continued in the early weeks of lockdown ensuring a healthy stock of cranes and attachments for when lockdown lifts.  A few well-advanced builds were the only workshop activity completed in April.  The remaining skeleton staff of Palfinger UK continue to support essential service and administration functions relating to your Crane operations.  Our Parts team is also operating normal hours and has ensured a good forward supply of parts to keep your businesses operational in these challenging times.

Palfinger Austria recommenced limited production with a staged return towards full supply by the end of Quarter 3.  Despite this operational backdrop, our dialogue with customers and prospects remains strong, enquiries and quotations continue, and the word from our customers is that they are gearing up for a positive bounce-back to normality (with social distancing in place of course) in the coming months.

Best wishes

Update from Palfinger UK – 7th April 2020

Further to our announcement of 24th March, Palfinger UK will be extending the closure period of our production facilities and many associated functions until at least Tuesday 5th May.

This does not affect any departments where we have skeleton staffing arrangements or where we have a reduced operational capacity, as is the case in our Field Service or Parts departments.

This decision has been made based on a number of factors including internal planning, an understanding that many of our customers and partners are currently unlikely to return to work before that date, and that many suppliers could also be closed for several more weeks.

This is being monitored on a case by case basis. If our position changes and an opportunity arises to increase activity and staffing levels safely and within the bounds of Government advice prior to this date we will make a further announcement.

We have a continuing commitment to providing site service support, in particular for our essential users and for compliance events and breakdowns. Please do contact us if you have any questions, where we will be happy to advise further.

We are extremely grateful to our colleagues, customers, partners and suppliers who continue to support us during this unprecedented time.

Best wishes

Aftersales Support Update from Palfinger UK – 27th March 2020

During this challenging period, our top priority is the safety and well-being of our staff, customers and the wider community. To this end, we are following advice and recommendations from the Government, Public Health England and the World Health Organisation on all developments.

Palfinger UK fully appreciate that this is an extremely challenging time for everyone in the lorry loader sector, so please know that we share your concern and we are here to provide help and support in any way that we can.

We have invested heavily in the latest technology and telephony systems and have strong business continuity plans in place; that will enable us to continue to support our customers and play our major part in keeping the UK running – regardless of the disruption.

Our Service and Parts control centres, main Parts facility and courier service remain fully operational and our nationwide network of Field Service Engineers, will continue to support essential services throughout the UK.  In line with the Government’s guidelines we will prioritise Compliance events, VOR breakdowns and safety related defects.

Important note: The safety and well-being of our staff is of the utmost importance to us. To minimise the risk to our mobile workforce, your staff, the wider community and to comply with Government guidelines on social distancing we are implementing additional mandatory site safety control measures when attending customer sites.  Further details are available on request.

In closing I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your co-operation in this matter and for your continued support.

Update from Palfinger UK – 24th March 2020

Following the Government instructions last night, it is with great reluctance that we must let you know we are temporarily suspending production at all Palfinger UK sites for an initial period of 3 weeks.

We will retain a small skeleton staff on-site to provide information, to support essential services, and take care of other logistical considerations.

Our Service and Parts functions will continue to the highest possible extent and will be driven by customer demand and requirements. Please note priority will be given to VOR and compliance events.

If you have any questions please speak to your usual contact within the business in the first instance. The situation for all of us is very fast-moving and we will endeavour to keep you updated via our social media channels and the T H WHITE Group website at

We would like to offer our sincere apologies to anybody inconvenienced by this action, however, our obligation to the health and wellbeing of our staff, their families and our wider communities is of paramount importance. We would like to thank you for your understanding and look forward to our continued partnership in the future.
