Stornoway water treatment plant
T H White’s installation and fabrication employees certainly manage to get around. In mid-November our Alnwick twins (Kevin and Karl) braved Force 9 gales travelling across to the Outer Hebrides to install a walkway and two staircases at a water treatment plant in Stornoway. The structure, fabricated by T H White in Devizes, was the latest in a series of water treatment installations carried out on behalf of Chippenham-based Huber Technology.
This was no simple journey. The twins drove 1,400 miles, had to contend with two
cancelled ferries (because of weather and an engineering shutdown), and returned by criss-crossing from Stornoway to Tarbert, ending up on the Isle of Skye. The steel work was transported separately from Devizes by low-loader. “Brilliant scenery and a job well-done,” said Kevin on his return, “but I would not recommend those ferries in a Force 9 gale!”
Two similar contracts have been completed in October and November for Huber Technology in Ireland and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
