“The Super Star can work in 99% of the bunkers, but we have a winter programme in place to modify the bunkers to allow easy access for the machine, so that they can all be raked mechanically,” he added.

Stewart has used Ransomes Jacobsen equipment for almost all his career and the Greens King IV ride on greens triplex is a particular favourite. “I’ve seen this machine evolve and know it, inside out,” he said. “I really admire the cylinders; they can take a lot of abuse and come back as good as new. I like to top dress, little and often, and that’s why we have a Turfco Widespin top dresser. I can cut the grass afterwards, backlap the cutting units and they come back to cut very easily.”

Mill Ride Golf Club near Ascot in Berkshire has been a customer of
