PALFINGER UK – LORRY CRANES

We are currently looking to recruit a Workshop Engineer to join our Crane Division based in Devizes, Wiltshire. The role provides effective and efficient servicing, maintenance and repair of lorry loader cranes.

The ideal candidate will be qualified to ALLMI standard, with experience of maintaining and repairing lorry loader cranes or similar products (e.g. Agriculture or General Plant equipment, Fork-lift Trucks, tail-lifts etc.). A strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems as well as H&S, LOLER & PUWER regulations are preferable.

Applicants must possess a full driving licence, be self-motivated, well organised, have a ‘can do’ attitude and good interpersonal skills. An HGV driving licence would be advantageous.

Candidates with the required experience are preferred, but applications are welcomed from candidates with the right attitude and with a willingness to learn.

Reporting directly to the Service Manager you will be responsible for the effective and efficient control of the service workshop activities in line with business needs.

The role will be very hands-on. You will need to be technically qualified to ALLMI standards and have experience of maintaining and repairing lorry loaders (including diagnostics), preferably with experience of Palfinger and Epsilon products.  A strong working knowledge of H&S, LOLER & PUWER regulations will be an advantage.

This will be a diverse and rewarding role and the ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated, well organized and possess good interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills and a HGV driving Licence are desirable.

Reporting directly to the Field Service Manager, you will be responsible for providing electrical/technical support to the Field Service and Workshop based engineers in a timely and efficient manner.

This is a newly created position, taking responsibility for providing electrical fault and Paltronic diagnostic support via a ‘remote desktop’ connection as well as the occasional on-site electrical rectification work.

Additionally, you will be an active member of the Palfinger UK Training Academy and will be required to assist in the development and delivery of electrical technical training modules.

This will be a diverse and rewarding role and the ideal candidate will need to be IT literate, self-motivated, well organised and possess good interpersonal skills. You will require a recognised qualification in auto electrical engineering or similar industry, combined with a strong working knowledge of 12v/24v electrical and electronic operating systems.

Experience of working in the electrical repair or installation of lorry-mounted cranes or similar equipment is also preferred, however applications are welcomed from any candidate with a methodical problem-solving aptitude and a willingness to learn.

AGRICULTURE

We have opportunities for school leavers to join an eperienced team of mechanics and to qualify as a professional Agricultural Engineer at many of our Agricultural branches. Specialisting in New Holland machinery, we run a comprehensive apprenticeship scheme for school leavers between the age of 16 to 19 who are well motivated and competent in practical skills and have obtained good grades at school.

Apprenticeships are usually run for four years and incorporate block release for college study. On completion students will be qualified to National Diploma land based technology and LTA 2 Tech/3. Suggested minimum qualifications include GCSE Grade C in English, Maths and Science.

We are looking to recruit a Workshop Foreman to lead a busy team at our Stockbridge depot. The successful candidate will provide direction, positive management and leadership to the team.

The ideal candidate will embrace and demonstrate the Company’s core values and will have the ability to interact and build relationships with all departments and external customers.

The Foreman will work closely with the Workshop Team to ensure the efficient, effective and productive use of staff, workshop facilities and equipment. They will also advise the team on best practice and methods of repair, determining and enforcing repair times by monitoring of work. Good housekeeping of the workshop, including risk assessments, implementation of working time regulations and being accountable for Workshop revenue etc., are essential parts of this role.

This role includes responsibility for ensuring timely invoicing, and monthly reviews of turnover and profit, and overseeing the cost of the department.   The supervisory nature of the role will require you to identify training needs across the Workshop Team, conduct regular 1:1s and annual appraisals, and take reasonable care for personal and team health and safety.

PROJECTS

We currently have a vacancy for a Design Draughtsperson based at Devizes. This position will require the successful candidate to be capable of producing a variety of drawings using AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D. There will also be a requirement to use Advance Steel, though training will be given if and when required.

The role currently involves all aspects of drawing preparation for the Projects Division within T H WHITE Ltd, including good quality general arrangement and assembly drawings for tendering, design and installation; detail drawings for manufacture; process flow diagrams; specification drawings; planning permission drawings and “as built” drawings as required.

Other associated documents such as Lot Lists and drawing issue sheets are prepared using Microsoft Excel and Word.

Applicants should be familiar with structural steelwork and be able to work unaided to draw up concepts for supporting machines, and providing access around them. Familiarity with the British Standards relating to machinery access will be a big help, though not necessarily a requirement for the right candidate. However, being able to prepare manufacturing details of structural steelwork and items made from steel plate is a requirement.

From time to time there will be a need for the draughtsperson to visit customers’ sites to take measurements of existing equipment and civils.

This role will be salaried with the requirement to work extended hours during busy periods.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Bulk Material Handling Site Engineer to work on sites across the UK.

This is a very varied role, with tasks such as installation of bulk material handling plants, erection of steel work, pre-harvest servicing of grain driers, trouble shooting and repairs to damaged equipment, and preparing detailed reports and job sheets.

Knowledge of fuel oil burners, mechanical engineering, welding and a little knowledge of 3 phase motors would be an advantage, and experience with grain handling equipment (driers, cleaners, elevators etc.) is preferred.

In addition to relevant experience, the ideal candidate will have a Can Do Attitude, a proven track record of excellent customer service, and strong problem solving skills. As this role covers the UK, the successful applicant will be required to work away from home and at weekends on a regular basis.

A full UK driving licence, CSCS card, and IPAF licence are essential for this role, as is a good head for heights!
